About Us
Our Story...
Since its purchase in the early 1920's by Joseph Walker Ellis & Lizzie Henry Ellis, upon his retirement from the Rock Island Railroad, the land located in the beautiful rolling hills of Ruston, LA. has been home to, and farmed by, the Ellis family for 4 generations.
From the early 1920's until the late 1940's the farm produced fruits, vegetables, sugar cane, & had a mule driven syrup mill. Upon his passing in 1959, Joseph's grandson Robert continued to maintain the land he loved & helped plow as a young boy. In 1963 Robert planted numerous pine trees of different varieties, transforming areas of the farm into a Pine Plantation, while other areas served for gardens & breathtaking wildflowers.
The Ellis Family Farm has returned to its roots with Joseph & Lizzie's great-grandson Craig & his wife Susan. Craig & Susan share the passion of bringing the farm back to, and expanding on the vision Joseph & Lizzie had for their beloved farm.
